Because of the Martin Luther King holiday on Monday, Scrip orders will be due by noon on Tuesday, January 17th. The orders will be processed by Thursday, Jan 19 by 2:30pm. I just finished processing rebates for April through December. If you are a Scrip participant who elected to use your Scrip profit sharing towards your tuition and you pay tuition monthly or semi-annually, you will be receiving a letter from Susie Graves with your rebate amount. For those participants who pay annually, your profit sharing will carry over to next year's tuition. The Scrip program raised over $7,500 for the period between April 20 and Dec 28, 2011. About $3,700 of the money raised goes to the St. Jude PTO. Over $3,500 will be credited to individual family tuition. The St. Jude Church Social Justice and Outreach Programs will receive $284.92 and St. Jude Tuition Assistance fund will receive $97.32.Between April 20 and Dec 28, 2011, the average Scrip participant raised over $120. The Scrip program doesn't cost the participant any extra money, because they pay the face value for the gift card they purchase and get to spend that same amount at the store (i.e. $100 Speedway gas card). "Liturgy for Lovers" Sweetheart Dance

The St. Jude 16th annual “Liturgy for Lovers” Sweetheart Dance will be held at Primo South on Saturday, February 11, 2012. Plan to enjoy an evening beginning at 6:30 with Mass and renewal of marriage vows followed by dinner, a dance demonstration, and dancing with The Third Generation Band. St Jude Youth Athletic Committee Winter Sports Philanthropic Event

Cereal Donations for the Lord’s PantrySt Jude Youth Athletic Committee will be collecting boxes of cereal for the families who are served by The Lord’s Pantry. We will be collecting cereal in the gym from Friday January 13, 2012 until Friday January 27, 2012. All of the collections will be delivered to The Lord’s Pantry on January 28, 2012 by a group of coaches and athletes from St. Jude Parish. Our goal is to collect two boxes of cereal from every family currently participating in athletics at St. Jude; this would result in approximately 190 boxes of cereal for the Lords Pantry. Each participant is asked to bring two boxes of cereal to the gym from Friday January 13, 2012 until Friday January 27, 2012 and place it in the box near the concession area. We wanted to update everyone; we have been told by QSP that there was an internal issue with the electronic file that held St. Jude’s data for the magazines /gift items that were purchased on paper order forms during our Magazine Sale. Some families have received postcards from QSP stating that their order would be filled soon. We have spoken to our QSP representative and the company feels confident that all orders will be filled by 12/31/11. QSP’s standard time to fill a paper order is 12 to 14 weeks, but our orders have always been completed much sooner. Please be patient the next few weeks as this problem is resolved. The Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS) welcomes you to a personal journey for mothers of all ages. The focus of the Journey is personal development and helping mothers find the spiritual in everyday life. Throughout eight sessions, which will meet once a week beginning in January, participants will discuss such topics as self esteem and self acceptance, stress and spirituality in a confidential environment led by trained facilitators.

DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

In an effort to provide a safer dismissal process, beginning Monday October 10th – students not picked up by 3:15 will be brought to the main lobby near door #1. This will allow for better supervision of all students. Below is a detailed description of all dismissal procedures.
2:55 – North and South Car Riders Released (Any student not picked up will return to the lobby near door #1)
3:10 – Late Dismissal and Walkers (Students who wait for the Roncalli dismissal or those students who walk home)
3:15 – Any student remaining that is not picked up will be brought to the main lobby near door #1
3:20 – Any student not picked up will enter the aftercare program and wait for pick up
We hope this procedure clarifies where students will be for pick up if their ride happens to be late and will ensure that all students are properly supervised until their ride arrives.

Just a quick note on your mealtime accounts. It would be quite helpful,if you could register your children on mymealtime.com. To register your child is FREE of charge to you, and you can also see your balance and what your child has eaten for that day, week or month, all FREE of charge. The only fee you have is when you deposit money online with mealtime. When you register your child, this will also notify you of your low or negative balances. Picture Retakes

Picture retakes are scheduled for Monday, October 17th. Students having retakes need to bring their pictures back in the original package and give them to the photographer. Students who are having their pictures taken for the first time will receive an order form to be filled out and handed to the photographer. All students having their pictures taken may dress up for the occasion.

Homework Zone

The homework Zone is an afterschool program intended to
offer students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades a place to “hang
out” and complete some homework under the supervision of
Scott Williams our Youth Minister. Scott will also organize
Roncalli High School students to serve as tutors and mentors.
This program is available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 –
4:30. The cost is $25.00 per 10 sessions which can spread out
over a semester or consecutive sessions. A registration form
will be sent home as an attachment for anyone interested.
The first session will begin October 4th.

The St. Jude School Parent Handbook has been added to the school’s
webpage. A School Handbook Acknowledgement Form will be
coming home and I ask you to review, initial, sign and return to
school with your son or daughter. This verifies that you know where
the handbook can be found.Included on the acknowledgement form is a section informing
parents that the Guideline for Catholic Schools on Respecting
Persons has been added to the handbook as well. Please take some
time and review this guideline. In an effort to address bullying and
any other activity or behavior that negatively affects a person’s good
name, reputation or personal safety, this guideline was written by
the Office of Catholic Education and given to schools to be
incorporated into handbooks throughout the Diocese.

St. Jude School is committed to establishing an environment where
all students, teachers and adults are treated with dignity and
respect. Students who make derogatory, slanderous, hostile, or
threatening remarks, whether it is done physically, verbally, or
electronically through the use of a home or school computer, phone,
IPAD or other electronic media or by remote access during school
time or after hours, will be held accountable for their actions and
may face disciplinary action by the school.

Of course negative behaviors must be addressed and students held
accountable for their actions. However I am very encouraged and
proud that in most cases our students conduct themselves in a
manner that reflects our Catholic values. Please take the time to
review the handbook guidelines with your child and affirm the many
positive behaviors we witness each day.

Eighth Grade Car Wash
